The Star Hotel, Alnwick

  • Description

The old Star Hotel in Fenkle Street fell into ruins after a great fire, leading to its demolition, and was replaced eventually by the new Post Office building (which in turn was built just before WW2 but used as a Ministry building throughout that time). Now the "Penny Black" restaurant. Note the Garage sign-posted up the lane (which is the far end of Stonewell Lane).
