    The Mortuary at Old Saltburn (1881) Prior to 1881, the unfortunate bodies, drowned at sea were stored at the Ship Inn at Saltburn, awaiting autopsy. The Mortuary was one of three buildings to be built over the road from the Ship - The Mortuary, The Lifeboat House and the Rocket Brigade building. The Mortuary is the only to survive, and is a Grade II listed building. The building was still in use into the 1960's ©SWJuk (2021) All rights reserved
