Arches on Cowgarth, Hexham

  • Description

"The remains of the old St Wilfrid's Priory gatehouse, c.1160. Listed Grade I (list entry 1042616) and a scheduled monument. When I saw this it looked familiar, although I wasn't aware of coming this way on a previous visit to the town. Later I realised I had moderated and commented on another Geograph contributor's photo of the same view a couple of months earlier. This shows how images stick in the mind.
