The gorge of Spen Gill

  • Description

"Spen Gill, one of the headwaters of Backside Beck which runs down Westerdale and into the River Rawthey. The gorge is not on the same scale as Cautley Spout or Black Force but it is a rare rocky feature in an overwhelmingly grassy landscape of rolling fells. Well worth a simple detour from the nearby boggy bridleway." Photo by Karl and Ali, 2013.
