Old water pillar, Newtown
-
Description
"For location see [[4377979]] . The water pillar was the successor to the village pump, made possible by the provision of a mains water supply. People no longer had to pump a handle, the water was under pressure and came out at the turn of a knob. We have learned about these devices from the excellent 'Village Pumps' website http://www.villagepumps.org.uk/definitions.htm . Similar examples are on Geograph at http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4475686 and http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3535918 ." Photo by Rose and Trev Clough, 2015. -
