SEATON CAREW CROSS

  • Description

    "....Two-stepped base, surmounted by a plinth on which stands a tapering shaft and Maltese cross. At the centre of the cross-arms of each side of the cross is a wreath carved in relief. The cornice of the pedestal is ornamented by a Greek-key design. The inscription is on four Westmoreland Slate panels on the plinth: the dedicatory inscription re both World Wars is on the south-east face; the tablets bearing the incised names of the WW1 Fallen are on the north-east, south-west and north-west faces . The memorial stands on a triangular island site...."
