Stone Circle, High Head Sculpture Valley

  • Description

"An outlying feature of the High Head Sculpture Valley is this Stone Circle, created by Brian Cowper in 2006. The stones have been carefully sited to incorporate some significant astronomical alignments. The circle occupies a commanding position on a hill above the valley with fine views in all directions - to the Lake District, the North Pennines, and the hills of southern Scotland. As the hilltop is shared with a young birch plantation, it is to be expected that eventually the circle will be hidden by the surrounding woodland." Photo by Oliver Dixon, 2010.
