    "Public library. Dated 1908 on cartouche in upper pediment; by T.F. Pennington. Rough-dressed limestone blocks on plinth; sandstone used for central bay and other detailing including main windows (with lintel and sill bands) dentilled cornice, and corniced parapet....double doors in pedimented doorcase surmounted by panel, with CARNEGIE LIBRARY in raised sans-serif lettering; ornate foliate surround to large oculus above. 3 tall, square-leaded, casements in pedimented architraves to either side; 3 segmental-headed cellar windows to either side of steps. Ornate wrought-iron forecourt railings are extended as handrails to steps..."
