New York War Memorial

    "First World War roadside memorial, 1921, by W. H Endean. Carved from sandstone, it consists of a three-stepped base surmounted by a heavy plinth, shaft and Celtic Wheel Cross. The shaft carries a wreath in half relief on the front with palm leaves at the corners. The inscription on the cross shaft reads To/ the/ Glorious/ Dead. The dedication is carved on the front face: ERECTED BY/THE INHABITANTS OF/THE DISTRICT/IN MEMORY OF/THE BRAVE MEN WHO FELL/IN THE WAR / 1914-1919...."
