Memorial Hall, New Hartley
-
Description
Memorial Hall is a community centre in New Hartley. It was built to commemorate local servicemen who lost their lives in the First World War. It was funded by deducting 2d (old pence) from miners’ weekly wages. The building was completed in 1926 and was used as a soup kitchen during the General Strike of that year, before it's official opening on the 27th of February 1927. -
