Hotel. Early C19. Ashlar with Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 7 bays. Stone porch with cornice band and frieze inscribed in relief letters POST HORSES. 6-panel inner door and fanlight with intersecting glazing bars....Referred to as "a comfortable and excellent inn" by Mackenzie : Northumberland : Newcastle : 1825...."
