Armstrong statue outside the Great North Museum: Hancock

  • Description

    The statue, by Hamo Thornycroft, was completed in 1906. A panel behind the statue, to the left, shows guns from Armstrong's works being loaded onto a sail ship. A panel to the right shows the Newcastle Swing Bridge, which was designed and paid for by Armstrong. The memorial is Grade II listed.
