    "The small village stands on a junction of unclassified roads. Here, the open entrance is to Newby Demense (see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3870884). To the left is an old direction roadsign pointing the way to Carlisle. A post box and phone box stand slightly overgrown on the verge.
