Welton (Horsley)
-
Description
"This is the well-preserved remains of the medieval village of Welton. The village was first recorded in the 12th century. The remains of many rectangular earthworks show the sites of the houses. These earthworks are very clear and the remains of many streets can also be seen. Parts of the surrounding open field system can also be seen, with traces of ridge and furrow. A number of hollows on the site may be the remains of a fishponds. This is a Scheduled Monument...." -
