Hallington and Bingfield War Memorial

  • Description

"This war memorial stands at a crossroads some distance from the communities involved. It must be one of the smallest of all World War I Memorials as it only commemorates six dead - although no doubt this represented a high proportion of the young adult male population of the tiny settlements of Hallington and Bingfield. The Millennium seat can be seen to the right. A large number of moles have also taken up residence. The cycleway sign indicates the Reivers Route (National Cycle Network Regional Route 10 from Tynemouth to Whitehaven)." Photo by Oliver Dixon, 2009.
