The Font St. Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle upon Tyne

  • Description

"The information board states that this font was saved from destruction by one Cuthbert Maxwell, a mason. He hid it away from the marauding Scots following the battle of Newburn in 1640. The shields of arms are those of the Rodes family, one of whom built the lantern tower." Photo by Derek Voller, 2013.
