Old Milestone, Haugh Head

There is an old milepost on the A697 a short distance north of Haugh Head. The cast iron milepost was erected by the Percy's Cross to Millfield Turnpike Trust in the early 19th century. The Trust was founded in 1807. The milestone is Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England. The milepost indicates 317 miles to London, 61 to Edinburgh, 30 to Morpeth, and 14 to Cornhill.
