North Shields Methodist Church

North Shields Methodist Church is located on Hawkeys Lane, on the junction with Lansdowne Terrace West, in North Shields. It was originally Hawkeys Lane Primitive Methodist Church, which opened in 1932. It replaced an earlier Primitive Methodist chapel of 1860 on Saville Street (this closed in 1930 and the top floor was removed and it became a Woolworths store!). A plaque commemorating the First World WWar was removed from the Saville Street chapel and relocated to the vestibule at Hawkeys Lane.[1] The church was extended in 1997.
