Gateshead Dispensary, Nelson Street

The Old Dispensary on the corner of Nelson Street and West Street in Gateshead was originally a villa built in the early 19th century. Prompted by the outbreak of cholera in 1831, the building was purchased for use as Gateshead Pharmacy from 1832 to 1946. Later the building was used by the Borough Housing Department. This is a Grade II listed building on the National Heritage List for England.
