Farneyside, West Allen

Farneyside (aka Farney Side) is a farm / hamlet situated by the River West Allen in Northumberland, about 1 mile south of Ninebanks. North of the farm, along the road to Ninebanks, are Farneyside Cottages and an old lime kiln. Whellan's 1855 directory of Northumberland lists Farney Side under the grieveship of High West Allen, in the ancient parish of Allendale. The 1855 directory lists Joseph Milburn (shoemaker) and Joseph Varty (grocer) at Farn Side. Today, Farnside is part of West Allen Civil Parish.
