Eden Bridge in Carlisle was completed in 1815. The road bridge over River Eden was built for the County of Cumberland by Robert Smirke. It was one of two bridges built together (the southern channel of the river was left dry and gradually filled and the southern bridge was demolished in 1969 when the inner ring road was built).
