Dunston Hill Community Primary School


Dunston Hill Community Primary School is located on Market Lane in Dunston, Gateshead. The current school was opened by the Duke of Kent on the 20th of March 2009, following the amalgamation of the former Dunston Hill infant and Dunston Hill Junior School.[1] The School's history can be traced back to Dunston Hill Council School, which was located on the corner of Ellison Road and Carrs Bank and was opened on the 7th of December 1910.[2] The school became the boys department of Dunston Hill Council Intermediate School in 1919, then in 1928 the junior boys were transferred to Dunston Council Mixed School,[3] a predecessor of Dunston Hill Junior School.
