Dam and Valve House, Catcleugh Reservoir


The dam, overflow bridge and valve house of Catcleugh Reservoir were built 1891-1904 by T. and C. Hawksley, engineers, for the Newcastle and Gateshead Water Company. The valve house has original machinery of 1903 by Glenfield and Kennedy of Kilmarnock. The dam, overflow bridge and valve house are Grade II listed on the National Heritage List for England.
