Carr Edge

Carr Edge is an outcrop of golden sandstone, topped by the Scots pines of Carr Edge Plantation, located about 1 mile north of Fourstones in Northumberland. Carr Edge Farm is located a short distance west of the edge. Carr Edge was the site of the first boy scout camp in 1908 led by Baden Powell. A memorial cairn is located by the edge, commemorating an anniversary camp, inscribed "The Chief Scout Maj.Gen. Michael Walsh visited this site in the 75th year of Scouting. 18 August 1982." Carr Edge is in Newbrough Civil Parish.
