A new station building at Askam was opened by the Furness Railway on the 1st of April, 1868. The chalet-style station building was designed by Paley and Austin. Before this there had been a very simple railway halt here with very few facilities. The new station reflected the growth of Askam at that time.
Co-Curate is a project which brings together online collections, museums, universities, schools
and community groups to make and re-make stories and images from North East England and Cumbria.
