"The beadle of St. Nicholas' Church, Newcastle, having been apprised that a corpse would be sent by the Ardincaple steam vessel for interment, accordingly, on the above day, a box, directed "A passenger," was taken to his house, containing a splendid coffin which was interred at 9 o'clock next morning, in the most private manner, and without the tolling of any bell. The entry made in the register is "Helen Tatlock, Aberdeen" The only reason given was, that the woman requested not to be buried in Scotland."
