The Cheviot Memorial

Located in College Valley, this is a memorial to the 58 airmen who lost their lives on the Cheviot Hills during the Second World War. The memorial was originally unveiled on the 19th May 1995 by HRH the Duke of Gloucester. As part of the wider RAF 100 celebrations marking the centenary of the Royal Air Force, the monument was repaired and upgraded, with fund-raising efforts by the Alnwick and Rothbury branches of the RAF Association. A new polished granite and bronze memorial, was unveiled and rededicated, by the Duke of Gloucester on the 6th September 2018.
